Fortuna has one of the finest horticultural climates in the West. Since we are so close to the ocean, temperatures are moderated all year. It is possible to grow many warm-weather crops by choosing varieties that mature quickly. Fall and spring are cool and are ideally suited to many cool-season crops, and many crops can be over-wintered, for instance, garlic is planted in October and harvested in June.
